Tillerson’s spokesperson announces last day at State Dept

The spokesperson for Secretary of State Rex Tillerson announced that today is his last day at the State Department, in a two-part Twitter statement Tuesday morning.

For the past year, R.C. Hammond has been Tillerson’s top spokesperson and communications adviser.

Irwin Steven Goldstein, the new undersecretary of state for public diplomacy, is now expected to head up Tillerson’s communications team. CNN reported, “Tillerson’s office is hoping to develop a more cohesive communications strategy and a more positive relationship with the press under Goldstein.”

Hammond tweeted:

“25 new stamps in my passport from traveling with Sec. Tillerson, but I am most proud of the U.S Seal on the front. Today is my last day working alongside America’s diplomats at the @StateDept. It has been a privilege to serve in the Trump Admin. and to be part of #MAGA 1/2″

“After the New Year and a few weeks off, I will return to @theheraldgroup to help our clients develop and execute winning communications and public affairs strategies. #MerryChristmas (2/2)”
