Times Square driver intended to kill, charges filed


Prosecutors have charged the NYC driver who slammed into a crow of more than a dozen people in Times Square on Thursday with murder.

Richard Rojas allegedly told cops he wanted to shoot them when he got out of his car, leading them to believe his plan was “suicide by cop.”

The suspect killed one person and injured 22 others.  He has been charged with one count of murder and twenty counts of attempted murder.

Rojas has a criminal record including multiple DWI charges. Mayor Bill de Blasio informed the public he is a U.S. citizen and former member of the U.S. Navy.  The suspect also tested positive for PCP.

Officials said at this point in their investigation there is no indication the incident was terror related. Video below:
