Tom Cruise injured performing a stunt for new film (see VIDEO)

Tom Cruise, the A-list actor famous for his many appearances in the action-movie genre, was injured while performing a stunt recently.

During the filming of the new “Mission Impossible 6” movie, the 55-year-old Cruise was body-slammed into a brick wall as he was performing a stunt.  The moment was caught on video and released Sunday. (see below)

Cruise was attached to a pulley system, but something went wrong as he was attempting a jump between rooftops in London.

As shown in the video below, Tom Cruise hits the side of a building very hard with his chest.  He then lifts himself up onto the roof and continues filming the scene.  But as he tries to get up and walk, his knees buckle and he begins to limp.

According to reports, it wasn’t clear what, if any, injuries he sustained, although in the video he’s obviously injured. Filming temporarily stopped as Cruise was pulled back to a platform and ushered off set.

Cruise famously insists on doing a majority of his own movie stunts, despite the dangers sometimes presented by the tasks.

Cruise is soon set to start production of the much anticipated “Top Gun” sequel. Considered the movie that launched him into to super-stardom, the much-admired action film recently celebrated the 31st anniversary of it’s release.

Cruise himself told reporters in May that filming of “Top Gun 2” is “definitely happening,” and will begin within the next year.

As he continues his lengthy career in the movies, many are wondering if Cruise can still draw the audiences he has over the past 3 decades. The recent Tom Cruise film, “The Mummy,” was slated to start a huge new franchise for Universal Pictures but failed to live up to expectations at the box office.

Some sources blamed Cruise for the failure of the film, claiming that he exerted nearly complete creative control over the production, bringing his perfectionist tendencies on set.

Cruise was named People’s sexiest man of the year by People magazine more than once, and his fame has remained consistent throughout his career.  Although many say his appeal dropped once he dove into religion.  Cruise is a Scientologist.  He does not smoke or drink, and is said to live a very clean lifestyle.
