A list of the top fifty companies and groups in terms of cash laid out for lobbying efforts was compiled by the Center for Responsive Politics and published by The Hill.

The list represents a combined total of over $716 million in lobbying bucks given to influence government and Congress through the hiring of lobbyists and lawyers promoting a specific agenda.

The top five spenders on the list are:

  • U.S. Chamber of Commerce
  • National Association of Realtors
  • Blue Cross Blue Shield
  • Americans Hospital Association
  • Pharmaceutical Research & Manufacturers of America
