Christopher Nolan’s epic World War Two film, Dunkirk, is on schedule for the July 21, 2017 premiere date, and the first full trailer has been released.
Nolan is the first to cover the epic Battle of Dunkirk since the 1958 film of the same title. Dunkirk was a key battle in which the British army was trapped against the English Channel because of the surprising speed of the German blitzkrieg conquest of France. The German Luftwaffe asked for the honor of finishing them off instead of sending in the army, giving the allied forces precious time to escape.
The film stars Tom Hardy, Mark Rylance, Kenneth Branagh and Harry Styles. Nolan’s previous film was Interstellar. He is perhaps best known for The Dark Knight.
