Trump calls Roy Moore from Air Force One

Just one week away from the hotly contested Senate race in Alabama, President Trump has offered his full support to controversial Republican candidate Roy Moore.

Moore was hit with allegations from multiple women, accusing him of sexual misconduct when he was a young prosecutor, back in the 1970s. To date, he has denied all the allegations, saying they are completely false, and ignored calls to withdraw from the race.

Trump originally backed Moore’s GOP opponent, Luther Strange, but has now stated that it would be much better to have Moore win the election than his Democratic opponent, Doug Jones.

On Monday morning, the president tweeted, “Democrats refusal to give even one vote for massive Tax Cuts is why we need Republican Roy Moore to win in Alabama. We need his vote on stopping crime, illegal immigration, Border Wall, Military, Pro Life, V.A., Judges 2nd Amendment and more. No to Jones, a Pelosi/Schumer Puppet!”

Later, while aboard Air Force One, on his way to Utah, Trump placed a personal phone call to the candidate, which was confirmed by social media posts from Moore, his wife Kayla Moore, and his campaign consultant, Drew Messer.

In the phone call, Trump’s parting words to Moore were, “Go get ’em, Roy!”

Kayla Moore wrote on Facebook, “Judge Moore just got off the phone with President Trump – we have his full support! Thank you Mr. President! Let’s MAGA!”

Messer tweeted, “@realDonaldTrump called @MooreSenate this morning. Great conversation. His parting words were ‘go get them Roy’. Thank you, @POTUS for supporting the Judge.”

Moore tweeted, “Just got off the phone with President Trump who offered his full support and said he needs a fighter to help him in the US Senate. I look forward to fighting alongside the President to #MAGA!”

Moore said later, in a statement, “I am honored to receive the support and endorsement of President Donald Trump. President Trump knows that the future of his conservative agenda in Congress hinges on this election. I look forward to fighting alongside the President to strengthen our military, secure our border, protect our gun rights, defend the sanctity of life, and confirm conservative judges to courts around this nation.”

“We had a good conversation over the phone today and are working together towards conservative victory on December 12,” he added.
