Trump And DHS Chief Clear The Air On Immigration Raids

Interpretations of how to classify the potential use of “military force” in detaining illegal aliens in the United States appeared to be at a crossroads between President Donald Trump and Department of Homeland Security Chief John Kelly on Thursday.

Hours after President Trump declared the nationwide seizure of illegals residing in the U.S a “military operation,” Kelly stated at a joint press conference in Mexico with Secretary of State Rex Tillerson that the use of the military isn’t in the cards.

Attempting to translate President Trump’s direction, White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer insisted Trump was only “describing the manner in which [alien detainment] was being done.” Compared to the unique execution as made standard by the United States armed forces, Spicer tied the President’s thoughts together by saying, “I think the way it’s being done, by all accounts, is being done with a very high degree of precision and in a flawless manner in making sure the orders are being carried out.”

The miscommunication started at the White House Thursday morning, when Trump spoke on the issue of illegal immigration.

“What’s happening at the border: for the first time we are getting gang lords out, drug lords out. These bad dudes out of this country and at a rate that nobody’s ever seen before and they’re the bad ones,” Trump stated. “It’s a military operation because what has been allowed to come into our country…much of that is because people are here illegally. And they’re rough and they’re tough but they’re not tough like our people. So we’re getting them out.”

Kelly, perturbed by the misreporting of Trump’s intentions, scolded the media in attendance this afternoon, saying, “I repeat, there will be no use of military forces in immigration. At least half of you try to get that right because it continually comes up in the reporting.”
