Trump at Gov. Dinner: “We’ve accomplished almost everything we’ve started out to accomplish” (video)

The president hosted 46 active governors last night at the White House for the annual Governor’s Ball. The black-tie event is the first major social gathering at the White House under the Trump presidency.

The president opened the event by giving credit to his wife for doing a wonderful job in spearheading the gala. He also congratulated VP Pence and his wife for their help in getting the event off the ground.

The president then shifted to politics by stating, “I can tell you after 4 weeks, it’s been a lot of fun.” He continued, saying, “I can tell you we’ve accomplished almost everything we’ve started out to accomplish.” He cited tighter border security as an example. He also went on to say he is keeping to the promises he made during the campaign.

The president then made a joke in telling the governors they have a really easy job, and he forewarned them about having a more serious discussion about healthcare when the governors meet with the president and vice president on Monday morning.

The president mentioned the 46 governors in attendance set a record for the most governors to ever show up for the event.
