After the New York Times published a story Saturday revealing that Donald Trump Jr. attended a meeting with a Russian lawyer in June 2016, the president’s eldest son responded Sunday with a full statement about the meeting.

Monday morning, he posted additional statements on Twitter regarding the matter, along with an article from the New York Post titled, “The Times ‘exposé’ on Donald Trump Jr. is a big yawn.”

In his first tweet, Trump Jr. said, “Obviously I’m the first person on a campaign to ever take a meeting to hear info about an opponent… went nowhere but had to listen.”

The New York Times had quoted him with a partial statement of explanation about the meeting on Saturday.  When he released the longer statement on Sunday, Trump Jr. was accused of changing his story, and being inconsistent in his explanation.

He responded to that allegation Monday, tweeting, “No inconsistency in statements, meeting ended up being primarily about adoptions. In response to further Q’s I simply provided more details.”

Monday, Senator Susan Collins challenged Trump Jr. to testify before the Senate Intelligence Committee regarding the meeting, as the news has raised a firestorm of questions.

MSNBC’s Mark Halperin appeared on “Morning Joe” Monday morning and alleged that Trump Jr. is “in a world of hurt” over the scandal.
