According to Reuters’ daily tracking poll, presumptive nominee Donald Trump has been rising in the polls after the Islamic terrorist attack at an Orlando gay nightclub.
Trump had been on a downward trend in the polls after his comments about the judge presiding over the Trump University case, but since the Orlando shooting, Trump’s numbers have rebounded, as he has focused on fighting radical Islamic terrorists.
The Reuters poll showed Clinton leading Trump by almost 13 points on Sunday, but her lead has been cut to 8.5 points on Tuesday.
Trump has reinforced his commitment to ban Muslim immigration from countries that have ties to terrorist activity, until better security measures and vetting systems are in place.
Reuters said, “The Florida attack, in which a gunman killed 49 people at a gay nightclub and wounded 53 could have a lingering impact on the presidential race, mixing concerns about immigration, gun violence and religious tolerance into what has already been a volatile and sharply negative campaign.”
Clinton’s numbers dropped from 40 percent Sunday to 39.1 percent Tuesday, while Trump’s rose from 28.4 percent to 30.6 percent.
