Tonight, Trump said his rallies “are among the safest places to be on Earth.”
Having been to three of his rallies, Trump is correct. The Secret Service, local police, bomb sniffing dogs, helicopters, and private security men are everywhere. Metal detectors are placed at every entrance. Members of the press — no matter how high profile — are forced to go through a check point. Security inspects each camera, laptop, and cell phone. Every bag is searched in a way I’ve never seen a bag searched. The security at a Trump rally is ten times better than the security at any airport I’ve been to.
When a protester stands up or stands out, they are removed immediately. And before the event begins, an announcement is made over the public address system: Trump supporters are encouraged not to touch a protester in any shape, way or form. They are asked to point to the protester and wait for Secret Service to attend to the situation. Having been to three events, I have seen it happen numerous times – a protester stands up and the Trump supporters follow the instructions. Within seconds the protesters are removed peacefully.
