As if the highly anticipated clash between UFC star Connor McGregor and boxing legend Floyd Mayweather set to take place in Las Vegas Aug. 26 wasn’t already a big enough circus, President Trump inquired this week about attending the bout himself.
UFC President Dana White told TMZ Sports the President recently gave him a call on the matter, after he was asked if he would send the White House some free tickets.
“Funny you say that, but they called me yesterday. And I don’t think they’re gonna come, but they’ll be watching,” White said.
TMZ caught White after the first of four stops on his promotional tour for the fight, and questioned him about his good friend Trump. White spoke at the Republican National Convention last summer.
White said Trump probably won’t attend because “he feels like … he’ll ruin the event if he shows up. Secret Service is gonna have to go through the place, they’re gonna have to shut down streets and create crazy traffic.”
Probably a good call. No doubt the media would have a field day about it too. See video below:
