Trump sends Mueller a stern warning

In an interview with The New York Times on Wednesday, President Donald Trump issued a warning to special counsel Robert Mueller that it would be improper for him to investigate the Trump family’s finances in a manner not related to the probe into Russian election interference.

A registered Republican himself, Mueller has hired no less than seven Democratic donors to join his investigative team, which Trump has commented on in the past, calling it “ridiculous”.

Asked by the Times if he would ever order the Justice Department to fire Mueller, Trump said he would not do so, but he did say that Mueller better not open up a broad investigation into his family’s finances, which are unrelated to the Russia investigation.

“I think that’s a violation. Look, this is about Russia,” Trump said.

Previously, the Washington Post reported that Mueller is looking into whether Trump committed obstruction of justice by asking key officials to deny that he colluded with Russia. When asked if he knows that Mueller is looking into this, Trump said, “I’m not under investigation. For what? I didn’t do anything wrong.”
