President Trump saw the U.K. Office for National Statistics’ (ONS) recently-released quarterly report on crime on Thursday and came to his own conclusion regarding the stated 13% increase in all police-recorded offenses across England and Wales:
“Just out report: ‘United Kingdom crime rises 13% annually amid spread of Radical Islamic terror.’ not good, we must keep America safe!” tweeted Trump.
Trump’s tweet has sparked outrage among British MPs, who called his message “nonsense” and accused him of “spreading fear and xenophobia” by wrongly blaming the rise on terrorism.
Stating that terrorism accounts for a small proportion of crime in Britain, others accused him of peddling “fake news.”
According to the report, U.K. police forces registered 5.2 million crimes in the year through the end of June.
Just out report: “United Kingdom crime rises 13% annually amid spread of Radical Islamic terror.” Not good, we must keep America safe!
