President Donald J. Trump has a special place in his heart for the members of the U.S. military both past and present.
He has shown his respect for veterans time and again, including during his campaign.
If you recall, Trump skipped one of the GOP presidential debates and instead held a rally in which he raised money for veterans groups.
On Friday, the president showed his love and respect for a Congressional Medal of Honor recipient.
During a speech he was giving about Hispanic Americans and the role they played in shaping the United States, Trump referenced that 60 Hispanics have won the Congressional Medal of Honor. He was interrupted by someone in the crowd who said one of the recipients was in attendance.
Surprised at the announcement, Trump told the crowd he wanted to stop his speech so he could shake the hand of the man.
Although he never mentioned the man by name, Trump went over to the hero to shake his hand. The crowd broke out in applause.
When he returned to the podium, Trump mentioned that more than 250k Hispanic Americans are in the military.
