It’s been a wild 48 hours since President Trump issued an executive order to slow down immigration from terror-laden countries into the United States. Protests, lawsuits, arguments, and detentions are taking place all across America. Even so, who cares, fact is this sort of executive order is long overdue.
Despite what you hear on the mainstream media outlets; despite what you hear from screaming protesters, progressive judges, open borders groups like the ACLU, and failed politicians like Hillary Clinton, the executive actions taken by President Trump are not anti-Muslim. The executive orders are PRO-AMERICA.
Unless you lived September 11, San Bernardino, Orlando, or any one of the other Islamic-driven terror attacks in this country, the full impact of terrorism cannot be understood. There is a huge difference between living through a terror attack and watching it on TV. Losing your loved one to a terrorist and then reading his or her obituary days later is much different than reading an article in The New York Times about how a poor immigrant turned radicalized.
Yesterday during my Walk & Talk, I explained in great detail how our immigration system is broken and why President Trump’s orders are necessary. I urge you to watch and share the video because it explains U.S. immigration in very easy to understand language.
In the video, I use the example of an ‘I Love Lucy’ episode in which Lucy is working at a chocolate factory. Her job is to grab chocolate kisses off a conveyor belt for inspection and wrapping. But the belt is moving too fast — the chocolate kisses are coming in too quickly — Lucy panics as she can only inspect and wrap a small amount of the overall number of chocolates flowing past her.
Ultimately, Lucy becomes helpless. She lets the majority of chocolates go unchecked and unwrapped. The same can be said about our immigration system. The people are coming in too quickly and thus, we have to stop the flow in order to inspect them properly. Using his executive pen, President Trump is slowing down the conveyor belt with the intent to keep Americans safe.
Trump’s orders are not written in stone, forever. The orders are temporary. They give the Dept. of Homeland Security a moment to catch its breath and create better vetting measures to ensure national security is top notch. How anyone can call that un-American is beyond me.
I started this article by stating the difference between experiencing a terror attack and reading about one in the papers. I lived 9-11. It was horrifying beyond words. Bottom line, I don’t want to experience another terror attack on U.S. soil, and I don’t want you to experience one either.
On Sunday morning, Donald Trump sent out a tweet stating: Our country needs strong borders and extreme vetting, NOW. Look what is happening all over Europe and, indeed, the world – a horrible mess! Trust me when I tell you, the man is spot on.
