Trump supporters mount Mother of All Rallies in D.C.

On Saturday, the Washington Mall will hold what organizers are calling “The Mother of All Rallies” (MOAR). The rally, in support of President Donald J. Trump, will be held a short distance away from a group of anti-Trump demonstrators.

MOAR is a grassroots movement. According to the organization, with “increasing political and social unrest, many believe that core American values, customs and traditions are being sacrificed.” They encourage rally participants to attend, in order to “demand protection for traditional American culture” while simultaneously expressing their “love for the United States and the America First agenda.”

Police say they are ready for the protests, a common occurrence at the nation’s capital.

“Right now, there’s a demonstration of some sort happening at the White House. I guarantee you,” said Jeffery Carroll, assistant chief of the Metropolitan Police Department, according to the Associated Press. “It’s part of D.C. It’s in the fabric of the city.”

One group of protesters will be demanding that President Trump take stronger action against Russia, to counter alleged interference in the 2016 presidential election.

Elsewhere, in front of the Lincoln Memorial, thousands of juggalos, or supporters of the rap group Insane Clown Posse, will stage a concert and rally. They are gathering to demand the FBI rescind its classification of juggalos as a “loosely organized hybrid gang.”

Fans of the rap duo, which reportedly specializes in “horrorcore,” are devoted. The annual Gathering of the Juggalos music festival, held in Denver, Colorado, draws thousands and celebrated its 18th year in July.

The Justice Department’s Gang Task Force placed the juggalos in the same classification as overtly violent gangs, like the Bloods and the Crips, in 2011. In a department report, the juggalos were accused of  “forming more organized subsets and engaging in more gang-like criminal activity.”

The rap group and its fans, who favor extensive tattoos and outlandish face paint, deny the allegations and say they are a nonviolent community subject to largely class-based discrimination by law enforcement. They sued the FBI in 2014 seeking to change the classification.

The group claims to be fighting censorship.
