According to a report put out by NBC News, a Washington DC law firm will be sending a letter to a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee this week confirming that President Trump has no connections to Russia.

On Tuesday, White House press secretary Sean Spicer responded to a question from reporters regarding committee member Sen. Lindsey Graham’s stated desire to find out whether Trump has business dealings with Russia.

“The president, obviously, was aware of Senator Graham’s suggestion after he made it today and he’s fine with that. He has no business in Russia. He has no connections to Russia. So he welcomes that,” Spicer said.

“In fact, he has already charged a leading law firm in Washington, D.C., to send a certified letter to Senator Graham to that point that he has no connections to Russia,” Spicer added.

Spicer’s revelation came just hours before the firing of FBI Director James Comey, who was spearheading the probe into the administration’s alleged ties to Russia.

Graham, a South Carolina Republican who was an opponent of Trump in the 2016 presidential election and has been an outspoken critic of some of Trump’s initiatives, said earlier Tuesday that he has no evidence of improper business ties between Trump and the Russians, but he claimed that he wanted to know if any such ties exist.

“I have no evidence that the Trump business organization did anything illegal with the Russians. I have no evidence of collusion. But do I want to know about business ties? Yes,” Graham told reporters.

Although Russia has denied the claim, the U.S. intelligence community has asserted that Russia was involved in a covert campaign to interfere in the 2016 presidential election.

While Trump and other Republicans have acknowledged that Russia was likely involved, they contend that Russia’s alleged meddling had no effect on the election’s outcome.
