Trump Team Set to Slash EPA Budget

President Trump is planning some big cuts to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

Trump’s new “action plan” identifies more than “$800 million in planned budget cuts to state and tribal assistance grants, climate programs, environmental programs and management.

Myron Ebell, head of the environment program at the conservative Competitive Enterprise Institute and the leader of the EPA transition team, wrote the action plan to reform the EPA.  The action plan states “The EPA does not use science to guide regulatory policy as much as it uses regulatory policy to steer the science.”

The plan also lists numerous regulations to be cut; including rules about carbon dioxide levels in new and existing power plants.

President Trump has always threatened major changes at the EPA as well as getting rid of the mounds of regulations. Many of the proposed changes suggested by Ebell would require approval from Congress and some, like state and tribal assistance grants, presently have strong bipartisan support.
