President Donald J. Trump tweeted about former President Barack Obama in the early hours between Friday and Saturday, slamming him over an embarrassing mistake (see video below).
Tagging Fox News anchor Laura Ingraham, Trump tweeted: When President Obama said that he has been to ’57 States,’ very little mention in Fake News Media. Can you imagine if I said that…story of the year!
Obama has been on the campaign trail in recently, taking jabs at Trump and his policies. Ingraham took a turn at criticism during her show Friday night, her sights set on Obama.
The gaffe in question from Obama came in 2008 in Beaverton, OR as Obama was vying for the Democratic Party’s nomination.
“It is wonderful to be back in Oregon,” Obama said. “Over the last 15 months, we’ve traveled to every corner of the United States. I’ve now been in 57 states? I think one left to go. Alaska and Hawaii, I was not allowed to go to even though I really wanted to visit, but my staff would not justify it.”
Explaining himself to the Los Angeles Times later, Obama said: “I understand I said there were 57 states today. It’s a sign that my numeracy is getting a little, uh.”
