On Friday morning, President Trump announced he will be heading to Camp David.
In his tweet, he writes: “Heading to Camp David for major meeting on National Security, the Border and the Military (which we are rapidly building to strongest ever).”
Trump made his first presidential trip to the historic presidential site back in June.
Speaking with foreign newspapers earlier in the year, Trump’s city side came out when he described the famous site as “very rustic,” before adding, “You know how long you’d like it? For about 30 minutes.”
The 125-acre grounds boast a cabin for the president, a dozen cabins for guests, tennis courts, a heated swimming pool, a bowling alley and a movie theater. They even added a golf hole with multiple tees for the president.
“Everything that a president needs in the White House is built-in there,” says Anita McBride, who was former First Lady Laura Bush’s chief of staff. “You have military support. You have a place to house your staff if you chose to use it. It is immediately available. … Within 20 minutes you can be there.”
The travel to Camp David from the White House can be achieved in a short helicopter ride.
Trump tweeted earlier Friday about the deadly terror attack in Spain Thursday and the need to protect the United States of America from radical jihadists, which pointed blame at Democrats for being obstructionists when it comes to national security.
