On Monday night, President Donald J. Trump sent out an endorsement for Gov. Scott Walker (R-Wis.) and a video of highlights from an event in New York earlier in the day.

Regarding Walker, Trump tweeted:  Scott Walker of Wisconsin is a tremendous Governor who has done incredible things for that Great State. He has my complete & total Endorsement! He brought the amazing Foxconn to Wisconsin with its 15,000 Jobs-and so much more. Vote for Scott on Tuesday in the Republican Primary!

Vox reports: More than eight Democrats have filed to run in Wisconsin’s gubernatorial primary, which will be held August 14. Democrat Tony Evers, the state’s public education chief, is in the lead, but polling has been scarce and other candidates have pulled in notable Democratic endorsements. Mahlon Mitchell, the president of the Professional Fire Fighters Association, has the support of California Sen. Kamala Harris. Kelda Helen Roys, a former state Assembly member, has the backing of New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (and Wisconsin’s most famed indie band, Bon Iver).

Whoever wins the primary will have to face not only an incumbent Republican but also the impressive party machine Wisconsin Republicans have built around Walker in the better part of a decade that they’ve run the state.

According to the New York Times, Walker has “no significant opposition from within his own party on Tuesday.”

The video showcases Trump’s trip to New York, during which he signed the 2019 National Defense Authorization Act while at Fort Drum. The bill authorizes a top-line budget of $717 billion to cover a litany of defense spending.
