While on his flight from D.C. to Palm Beach, Florida on Friday, President Trump sent out a statement on Twitter, giving a shout-out to Florida Congressman Ron DeSantis.
DeSantis is one of two congressmen who signed a letter Thursday to Attorney General Jeff Sessions, demanding that the Justice Department turn over all documents related to the Drug Enforcement Administration case against the Iranian-backed terrorist group Hezbollah, whose drug trafficking and money laundering schemes propelled them into an international terrorist organization.
A recent report revealed that the Obama administration put countless roadblocks in the path of the DEA investigation, allowing Hezbollah to continue to grow, in order to avoid disrupting Obama’s nuclear deal with Iran.
“Congressman Ron DeSantis is a brilliant young leader, Yale and then Harvard Law, who would make a GREAT Governor of Florida. He loves our Country and is a true FIGHTER!” Trump tweeted.
The Tampa Bay Times noted that DeSantis has not announced a campaign for governor, but he is expected to. He also recently accompanied the president to his rally in Pensacola.
DeSantis also introduced a bill Thursday, which immediately attracted 28 co-sponsors, that would require Congress to declare Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and seek to move the U.S. embassy there by the beginning of 2019.
