Thursday evening, President Trump made a first announcement that his daughter and advisor Ivanka will be heading to India this fall.
It’s definitely clear that Ivanka is capable with holding and maintaining an international presence. In May, Ivanka accompanied her father to Saudi Arabia and participated in a roundtable discussion during an event focused on economic issues faced by women.
However, the first daughter drew scorn from liberal elites when she briefly stepped in to take her father’s seat during a Group of 20 summit meeting in Hamburg, Germany.
While cabinet officials are typically the designated replacements for a president during sessions when a stand-in is needed, Ivanka, who is an official unpaid adviser to the president, took his place instead.
She sat next to the likes of British Prime Minister Theresa May, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
In response to the photo, which was officially posted by a Russian official present at the meeting, a White House official responded: “Ivanka was sitting in the back and then briefly joined the main table when the president had to step out.”
The president met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in June. He had the honor of being the first foreign dignitary to dine in the Trump White House.
