TRUMP TWEET: Mitch, get back to work

President Trump continued his bashing of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell early Thursday afternoon with a new tweet urging him to “get back to work.”

In the tweet, Trump writes: “Mitch, get back to work and put Repeal & Replace, Tax Reform & Cuts and a great Infrastructure Bill on my desk for signing. You can do it!”

Earlier Thursday morning, Trump continued his slamming of Senate McConnell with about his lack of work.

In this tweet, Trump writes: “Can you believe that Mitch McConnell, who has screamed Repeal & Replace for 7 years, couldn’t get it done. Must Repeal & Replace ObamaCare!”

Trump previously addressed McConnell on Wednesday about “excessive expectations” in regards to getting bills passed. McConnell blamed the president’s lack of experience for his frustration with the “democratic process.”

In that tweet, Trump wrote: “Senator Mitch McConnell said I had “excessive expectations,” but I don’t think so. After 7 years of hearing Repeal & Replace, why not done?”

Speaking to a Rotary group on Tuesday in northern Kentucky, McConnell blamed President Trump for the public’s displeasure with the Senate’s performance. “Our new president, of course, has not been in this line of work before, and I think he had excessive expectations about how quickly things happen in the democratic process,” McConnell said.

Ironically, McConnell also criticized the president’s social media habits and told the audience he is not a fan of tweeting. “I’ve said that to him privately, and to him at events publicly. I think it would be helpful if the president was a little more on message.”

He also emphasized to the audience that the lines of communication between the executive and legislative branch remain strong.

Trump tweeted earlier today on why the U.S. is the strongest country in the modern world and addressed the escalating issue of nuclear proliferation and North Korea. Trump asserted that his top priority when he ascended the Oval Office was to strengthen the U.S. nuclear arsenal in case the U.S. ever truly had to defend itself from foreign enemies.
