The president took to Twitter Tuesday morning to address the aftermath left by Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico.
Over the past few days, the president has been lambasted by the media for focusing on the NFL while the U.S. territory is in dire straits.
But, as pointed out by White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders Monday, the media narrative is all false. Sanders explained that just because the president is tweeting about the NFL disrespecting the American flag, it doesn’t mean he and the administration are not helping in the relief efforts for Puerto Rico.
Addressing the issue, the president tweeted the following on Tuesday morning: “Thank you to Carmen Yulin Cruz, the Mayor of San Juan, for your kind words on FEMA etc.We are working hard. Much food and water there/on way.”
The island of Puerto Rico lost all its power during the Category 4 storm last week, and reports say the island could be in ruin for years to come.
