President Trump had endorsed GOP candidate Judge Roy Moore for the senate seat that was up for grabs in Alabama, but Democrat Doug Jones was declared the winner by a very small margin Tuesday night.

Within minutes after the election results were announced, President Trump sent out a Twitter post congratulating Jones on his win.

Trump also noted that Republicans will be back to attempt to reclaim the seat “in a very short period of time.”

He tweeted:

“Congratulations to Doug Jones on a hard fought victory. The write-in votes played a very big factor, but a win is a win. The people of Alabama are great, and the Republicans will have another shot at this seat in a very short period of time. It never ends!”
