Anthony Scaramucci, the former Wall Street insider and Obama donor who’s been hired by the president to fill the roll of communications director, was a supporter of Gov. Jeb Bush and Gov. Scott Walker prior to supporting Donald Trump in 2016.
Scaramucci, who is coming under question this morning for his tweets from years ago supporting gun control and climate change, is the subject of a Saturday morning tweet published by the president.
According to President Trump, Scaramucci would have supported Trump for president but didn’t know he was running for office.
Although the dates of Scaramucci’s support of Walker and Bush leaves questions as to why it took so long to support Trump, the President Trump wrote: “In all fairness to Anthony Scaramucci, he wanted to endorse me 1st, before the Republican Primaries started, but didn’t think I was running!”
