President Donald J. Trump spoke to the members of the U.S. military on Tuesday while visiting California, then tweeted a message of support for armed forces.
At a stop at San Diego’s Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, Trump gave a long speech during which he spoke about military preparedness, including the need for equipment and other resources. He said those needs are being addressed.
He also spoke of the relationship between the government and U.S. troops.
“Each of you has sworn an oath to support and defend the constitution of the United States,” Trump said. “Our task in government is to ensure that we preserve what we have gained through incredible sacrifice [from] you and many people [who served] before you.”
After speaking at the base, Trump tweeted: It was my great honor to deliver a message at the Marine Core Air Station Miramar to our GREAT U.S. Military, straight from the heart of the American People: We support you, we thank you, we love you – and we will always have your back!
He included pictures taken during the event.
