President Trump tweeted about “redrawn election lines” in Pennsylvania on Saturday afternoon, saying the new boundries are “unfair” and that the map should be appealed.
Trump wrote: Democrat judges have totally redrawn election lines in the great State of Pennsylvania. @FoxNews. This is very unfair to Republicans and to our country as a whole. Must be appealed to the United States Supreme Court ASAP!
The new Pennsylvania congressional map was released Monday by the state’s high court. In January, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court said the state’s congressional map was unconstitutionally gerrymandered.
Philly.com reports: Republican efforts to block Pennsylvania’s new map of congressional districts suffered a setback Friday, as a federal three-judge panel declined to issue an emergency order to prevent it from taking effect.
The new map would give Democrats better odds of gaining seats in the U.S. House of Representatives, potentially as many as half a dozen, according to Reuters.
Currently, Republicans hold 13 of Pennsylvania’s 18 seats.
