President Donald Trump sent out a tweet Friday night, with an update about the current state of communications between the US and North Korea.

Trump tweeted: We are having very productive talks with North Korea about reinstating the Summit which, if it does happen, will likely remain in Singapore on the same date, June 12th., and, if necessary, will be extended beyond that date.

The tweet comes after President Trump sent a letter Thursday morning canceling the planned June 12 meeting with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un.

In a statement, Trump said, “While many things can happen and a great opportunity lies ahead potentially, I believe this is a tremendous setback for North Korea, and indeed, a setback for the world. I’ve spoken to General Mattis and our joint chiefs of staff, and our military, which is by far, the most powerful in the world, that has been greatly enhanced recently, as you all know, is ready if necessary.”
