President Donald J. Trump sent out a series of four tweets Thursday afternoon, addressing his trip to Florida, a phone call with the president of Mexico, and health care.

The president traveled to Florida Thursday, along with First Lady Melania Trump and Vice President Mike Pence. After landing in Fort Myers, he met with federal and state leaders to assess the damage wreaked by Hurricane Irma.

Following a visit with officials including Florida’s Gov. Rick Scott (R) and Sen. Marco Rubio (R), the president and Mrs. Trump visited the city of Fort Myers, where they handed out food and greeted residents affected by the disaster.

As they were heading back to D.C., President Trump sent out a tweet that read: “Just left Florida for D.C. The people and spirit in THAT GREAT STATE is unbelievable. Damage horrific but will be better than ever!”

His next tweet came less than 15-minutes later. He said he’d finally spoken to the president of Mexico, Enrique Peña Nieto, following the 8.2 magnitude earthquake there last Friday. The president said there was no phone service due to Peña Nieto’s location, in explaining why he hadn’t expressed his condolences directly to the leader sooner.

Trump wrote: “Spoke to President of Mexico to give condolences on terrible earthquake. Unable to reach for 3 days b/c of his cell phone reception at site.”

His final two tweets referenced health care. The president said Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) is currently pushing a single payer healthcare plan, but reassured Americans that it wouldn’t get much consideration from him.

His two-part tweet is combined here: “Bernie Sanders is pushing hard for a single payer healthcare plan – a curse on the U.S. & its people. I told Republicans to approve healthcare fast or this would happen. But don’t worry, I will veto because I love our country & its people.”

Democratic Sen. Kamala Harris (Calif.) recently endorsed Sen. Bernie Sanders’ single-payer healthcare proposal, co-sponsoring his bill. Under the health care system they propose, the government would be solely responsible for covering health care costs. According to some estimates, the plan could cost taxpayers many trillions of dollars.
