President Donald J. Trump tweeted a touching pair of posts on Peace Officers Memorial Day.

The tweets come on National Police Week, a week when communities across the nation honor men and women who risk their lives in the line of duty to protect people.

National Police Week falls every year the week of May 15, which is Peace Officers Memorial Day,” WFLA reports. “Law enforcement officers from around the country gather in Washington, D.C. on May 15 every year to honor their brothers and sisters in blue who paid the ultimate sacrifice.”

Dozens of officers from across the country were honored in this year’s Roll Call of Heroes.

“The courage & sacrifice of our heroes is the reason our flag stands tall, our hearts beat with pride, and our Country remains one people, one family, and one NATION UNDER GOD,” the president tweeted along with a video. “Today, we thank you, we honor you, & we forever cherish the memory of our Fallen Men and Women in Blue!”

In a second tweet, Trump posted, “We stand firmly, strongly, and proudly with the incredible men and women of law enforcement. You do not hear it nearly enough, but Americans across this Country love you, support you, and respect you more than you could possibly know! #PeaceOfficersMemorialDay.”
