Each year, two qualifying students from each state are chosen to spend a week in Washington, D.C. with the United States Senate Youth Program.
The organization’s Twitter page says the scholarship and leadership program honors the nation’s top high school leaders.
President Trump sent out a Tweet late Thursday night, with a video of himself greeting the group Thursday. He told them that he could easily see one of them standing in his position some day in the future.
“Honored to meet this years @SenateYouth delegates w/ @VP Pence in the East Room of the @WhiteHouse. Congratulations!”

Likewise, the Senate Youth Delegates tweeted their appreciation, saying, “We are deeply grateful to @POTUS and @VP for meeting with the #USSYP2017 delegates and encouraging them to pursue careers in public service.”
