Trump Tweets: USS Gerald R. Ford is message to the world

The USS Gerald R. Ford still has more testing to complete before it will be ready for its first deployment in 2020, but the commissioning ceremony Saturday at the Naval Station Norfolk for the U.S. Navy’s newest addition to their fleet was still a spectacular event.

President Trump post three separate Twitter statements about the new ship Saturday, first announcing that he would be attending the ceremony: “Join me live for the commissioning ceremony of the USS Gerald R. Ford!”

Next he tweeted out a video with portions of his speech, stating, “A ship is only as good as the people who serve on it – and the AMERICAN SAILOR is the BEST in the world.”

In his third tweet about the new ship, President Trump said, “American steel & American hands have constructed a 100,000 ton message to the world: American MIGHT IS SECOND TO NONE!”

The ship is described as the U.S. Navy’s most technologically advanced and most expensive warship, costing $13 billion and taking 8 years to complete.

The U.S. Navy posted a video on their Twitter page of the entire ceremony:
