While President Trump decides whether or not to honor the Paris climate agreement, German officials are flipping out over comments made by White House chief economic adviser Gary Cohn, who said on Thursday that the President considers growing the economy to be more important than fighting global warming.

“If it comes to a choice between measures to curtail global warming under the 2015 Paris climate accord and growing the U.S. economy, economic considerations would prevail,” Cohn told reporters.

Without getting consent from the Senate, the Obama administration joined the Paris climate accord in 2016; and while he was campaigning last year, Trump promised to withdraw from it. However, keeping an open mind and willing to hear the opinions of others, Trump is still considering his options.
