At the White House press briefing Tuesday afternoon, President Trump’s personal doctor, Navy Rear Adm. Dr. Ronny Jackson, gave a full report of the president’s health, and firmly put to rest any speculation that he may not be fit for office, both physically or mentally.

Dr. Jackson, who has served as the presidential physician since 2013, said Trump is in excellent health, and fully able to serve his term as president, including a second term, should he be re-elected.

President Trump recently had a complete physical at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, and Jackson said Trump specifically asked if they could also perform a cognitive evaluation. Jackson said he saw no need for the test, but went ahead after Trump requested it – likely due to the multitude of speculation from the media about his mental capacity.

The cognitive evaluation tests for disorders such as memory loss and Alzheimer’s disease. Trump scored a 30 out of 30 on the test, and Jackson said that the president is “very sharp” and “very intact.”

“There’s no indication whatsoever that he has any cognitive issues,” Jackson said. “I’ve found no reason whatsoever to think the president has any issues whatsoever with his thought processes.”

He credited the president’s good health to his lifelong abstinence from tobacco and alcohol. He confirmed that Trump only sleeps about 4 or 5 hours each night, and said he simply doesn’t seem to require any more sleep than that.

Jackson said Trump, at 239 pounds, does need to lose about 10 to 15 pounds, and he would be working with him on an exercise and nutrition program.

He said President Trump told him to go out there and stay as long as he needed to answer all the reporters’ questions.

CNN’s Jim Acosta, who the president had ordered out of the Oval Office earlier in the day, was incredulous that Trump was perfectly healthy.

“One question,” Acosta asked Jackson. “There isn’t anything that’s part of the president’s health records or his overall physical fitness or any medications that he’s taking that you’re not permitted to tell us? Is there anything you’re keeping from us for privacy reasons?”

Dr. Jackson confirmed that he was not withholding anything.

“I can promise there is nothing that I am withholding from you. I can tell you, I’ve done the last four or five of these,” Jackson replied. “I’ve been involved in probably the last six or seven of these and this is hands down more information that has been put forth by any other assessment to date.”

“All data indicates the president is healthy and will remain so for the duration of his presidency,” he told them.
