Trump’s Next Transition Meeting: The Goldman Sachs President

President-Elect Donald Trump is scheduled to meet with Goldman Sachs Group President Gary Cohn at Trump Tower in New York Tuesday. Rumors are swirling that his transition team plans to have sit down talks regarding a possible administrative role for Cohn in Trump’s cabinet.

Transition spokesman Sean Spicer would not confirm these rumors, but did reveal Vice President-elect Mike Pence will be present at the meeting. Speculation has begun as to what position he may be offered, such as one in the Treasury Department or Office of Management and Budget. There are also talks he may be sought out for a role in the Federal Reserve.

Cohn is known for having a close friendship with Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner. However, Cohn’s main consideration for a position is interesting given Trump’s choosing of Wall Street executives.

Notably as well, many Trump associated transition team members and allies are actually Goldman Sachs alumni, such as Chief strategist Stephen Bannon, campaign finance chairman Steven Mnuchin (a contender for Treasury secretary), and transition-team member Anthony Scaramucci.
