Over the July 4 weekend, GOP nominee Donald Trump met with Indiana Governor Mike Pence and his wife.  Trump tweeted out a message after the meeting saying how impressed he is with the couple.

Then on July 4, Trump met with Iowa Senator Joni Ernst in New Jersey.  When asked about the meeting, Ernst said it was positive and she will continue to share her ideas with Trump.

With just two weeks before the GOP Convention in Cleveland, people with direct knowledge of Trump’s vetting process say his VP short list for a running mate includes Pence, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions.  They did not mention Ernst, according to Fox News.

Currently, The Drudge Report is running a poll asking “Who should be Trump’s VP?”, Gingrich and Ernst are the two top vote getters with nearly 70% of the vote.  Keep in mind the poll allows voters to vote more than one time.
