On his way to the G20 summit in Hamburg, Germany, President Trump is scheduled for a one-day stop in Poland on July 6, and the European Union is reportedly quite “rattled” over the planned visit.
Poland is one of three countries being sued by the European Union over its refusal to take in muslim refugees.
Last week, DML released a map of all the terror attacks in Europe. The map, which originally appeared on Fox News, reflects multiple terror attacks in just about every European country except for Poland, where there have been a total of zero attacks.
Still, the EU is insistent that Poland must do their share and start accepting the refugees, and EU officials are quite concerned about Trump’s visit there, fearing he will “encourage their defiance” and damage “European unity.”
President Trump is stopping in Poland for a discussion called the “Three Seas” project, joining with leaders from Central Europe, the Baltic States and the Balkans.
Trump reportedly intends to discuss U.S. natural gas exports at the meeting, as the region is currently heavily dependent on Russia. Poland received its first shipment of US. liquefied natural gas this month.
In addition to standing firm on immigration issues, Poland is not bending to international pressure on climate change and has been distrustful of international governments and globalization, putting more emphasis on national sovereignty instead.
One EU official commented on Trump’s meeting in Poland, saying, “We encourage Mr. Trump to get out and travel as much as he can. He needs to understand Europe and he can do that by getting out and speaking to people, to European leaders. But he can’t do deals with individual countries over the head of the European Union.”
