DML OPINION: You will hear a list of reasons why the people of Britain voted for BREXIT, but in the end it all comes down to one thing: “They don’t want the influx of Muslims.”
UK: According to Philly.com, the town of Romford was listed as the most pro-“Leave” town in Britain. “Leave” posters could be seen throughout the town. A writer for the website, Trudy Rubin, made her way to Romford to speak with residents. She wrote an interesting op-ed, but here is an excerpt from her recent article where she interviews a local resident. His name is Allen:
Over lattes at an outdoor cafe, Allen confirmed that nearly everyone here is for Leave. The biggest reason, he said, is immigration. “The way of life in this part of London has changed in my generation,” he complained. “It is a question of sheer numbers. . . . My father and grandfather fought to protect Britain from invasion. But we feel as if we have been invaded.”
Allen’s main concern, however, was South Asian Muslims, who make up a large percentage of the population of East London districts that abut his town. He said they are now seeking to expand into Romford.
One of Allen’s friends, retired real estate agent Toni Rust, protested that East London’s Muslim immigrant community doesn’t integrate into Britain, but stays aloof.
And, indeed, the failure to integrate large urban Muslim ghettos is a widespread European problem that is being intensely debated, especially in Germany.
“In the last 10 years it’s changed here,” said Allen. “This was a lovely town, but they have swamped us.”
Listening to Allen only reinforced my belief that the refugee issue – whether fact-based or not – will determine the political future of Europe. Its potency will continue to resonate, no matter the outcome of the Brexit vote.
According to the Daily Mail, in January of 2016 England became home to more than three million Muslims for the first time ever. The number in the country has doubled in just over a decade as a result of soaring immigration and high birth rates.
In some parts of London, close to half the population are now Muslims, according to detailed analysis by the Office for National Statistics. On current trends they will be the majority in those areas within a decade.
The UK is suffering from the influx of Muslims in the same way the United States is suffering from the illegal immigration that stems from visa overstays and a wide open southern border. And in the same way Brits sent a clear message with BREXIT, the American people will ultimately vote for Trump because we don’t want to be like Europe. We want the flow of migration into the U.S. to be controlled; and because of terrorism and a failure to blend into American society, we want the Muslim overflow to stop; we don’t want the Syrian refugees; we do not want any measure of amnesty; and we demand the borders be locked down once and for all. That spells TRUMP.
