All this week we’ve asked our loyal readers and viewers to weigh in about our new show called The Truth w/DML.
Tonight, we conclude our surveys.
Prior to this week we launched 18 episodes. We tried an array of runtimes and programming styles. Now we’re taking your opinions and formatting what will be our official show when we launch it at the end of May.
This week the majority of you said you’d like the show to be one-hour in length, and you’d like it to air at 7pm eastern. Our final, and perhaps most important question to you is about the show itself.
Based on the emails you’ve sent us using the submit news page, we’ve learned the following:
— You like DML hosting the show.
— You like Scarlett’s DML Report.
— You like Harlan’s in-studio reports (Harlan on the Hill)
— You like it when we touch upon more than one news item, but you don’t want the segments to go too quickly.
— You like the interviews we conduct with guests, but you don’t want the interviews to go too quickly.
— You like it when we take viewer phone calls, and read comments / emails.
Using the information you’ve given us, and based on the show being one-hour, here is what we’ve put together for a show outline.
SEGMENT ONE 15-minutes
–> DML’s opening 3-minute monologue about the KEY news item of the day.
–> Harlan weighs in on KEY news item.
–> A guest weighs in on KEY news item with DML and Harlan.
**The KEY news item is analyzed and explained at great length with limited opinions inserted.
SEGMENT TWO 15-minutes
–> DML and Harlan review 3 news stories that took place during the day.
–> A DML reporter / writer participates in studio (For example, DML’s son)
SEGMENT THREE 15-minutes
–> DML REPORT: DML & Scarlett provide stats and info about a random topic (e.g., cost of refugees from Syria).
–> HARLAN on THE HILL: DML & Harlan expose a political person, bill, or wrong-doing in DC.
–> Guest weighs in on both.
SEGMENT FOUR 15-minutes
–> DML & Harlan each share a positive story from the day.
–> DML plays “the video clip” of the day — something interesting that’s going viral.
–> DML & Harlan read emails from viewers, and or takes phone calls from viewers.
So we ask you, do you like this format? Yes or no. Please answer the poll below. And if you have more feedback, use our submit news page. Thanks!
