UK Counter Terrorism Police release new film for tourists

Counter terrorism authorities have released a new safety film for tourists coming to the UK, and have recommended it be watched by all travelers in the same way they watch an inflight safety video on an airplane.

This new film, just over four minutes long, tells tourists the best way to survive a terror attack.

The film gives tips to tourists on how to run from gunshots if they are in a hotel or other public place.

Major safety tips include:

  • If there is a safe route – run.
  • Insist others go with you.
  • But don’t let their indecision slow you down.
  • Leave belongings behind.

A UK official who helped coordinate the project, Scott Wilson, said, “The chances of being caught up in a terrorist incident are still low, but sadly, we have seen atrocities take place in the UK and abroad. So it is important everyone stays alert and knows what to do if the worst was to happen.”

He added, “We want people to think of this in the same way they do the safety film airlines show before take-off. They don’t expect anything bad to happen, but it is a sensible safety precaution to show people what to do.”
