Despite the heated tension between failed presidential candidate Mitt Romney and President-Elect Donald Trump during the campaign season this year, it has now been confirmed Trump will be holding a meeting with Romney this Sunday to discuss the possibility of making the former Massachusetts governor the Secretary of State. NBC confirmed the report Thursday through an interview with Sen. Jeff Sessions.

Romney was uber-notorious for being a staunch opposer of Trump, not once ever vouching support for the businessman turned leader of the free world. The Republican stalwart lambasted and chastised Trump relentlessly, even after he scored the party nomination. In 2012, Trump had endorsed Romney for president.

“Here’s what I know: Donald Trump is a phony, a fraud,” Romney said in a speech in March. “His promises are as worthless as a degree from Trump University. He’s playing members of the American public for suckers: He gets a free ride to the White House, and all we get is a lousy hat.”
Despite the animosity, Romney congratulated Trump on his big win: “Best wishes for our duly elected president: May his victory speech be his guide and preserving the Republic his aim.”
Is Trump being the bigger man by letting the rhetoric blow over and bygones be bygones? Time will tell on Sunday when the meeting is said and done.
