On August 26, 2016, Dennis Michael Lynch received a disturbing email from a reader of this website. The upset reader wrote, “DML, with 22 veterans committing suicide every day, you’d think that Apple would program Siri to provide the phone number to the Veterans Crisis Hotline. But it does not. If you request the information Siri replies that there is no information available. However, if you want the phone number to immigration services, Siri will provide you multiple options. Please help bring awareness to this.”
DML took it up himself to test it out with his iPhone and confirmed the report. Watch the video:
This weekend a reader asked we update the story. The reader said Apple has now made it so Siri provides the information about the Veterans Crisis Hotline. We tested it for ourselves on the iPhone, and we are happy to report Siri provides the requested information. We hope we had something to do with that change, either way, thank goodness it’s been corrected by Apple.
