U.S. sanctuary cities are working with the organization Naturalize Now to make 1 million immigrants legal U.S. citizens by the end of the year.
These cities, such as Los Angeles, Salt Lake City, Seattle, Boston and New York City, allow many illegal immigrants to fast track the migration process and take sanctuary in the U.S. regardless of their legal status.
Former member of Trump’s Hispanic advisory council, Steve Cortes, is all for allowing immigrants to attain citizenship, but he feels doing so in tandem with sanctuary cities defeats the purpose. Since immigrants in sanctuary cities were fast tracked there, they aren’t vetted in the same way, and some criminals according to Cortes are “hiding in plain sight.”
Steve Cortes urges sanctuary cities to “get their house in order first” in terms of dangerous, illegal immigrants, before naturalizing all citizens in a sanctuary city.
