Vanity Fair spurns Melania Trump from 2017 Best Dressed list

Vanity Fair released their 2017 International Best-Dressed List Wednesday morning, with one glaring omission… First Lady Melania Trump.

In an opinion editorial blog from the Washington Free Beacon, Brent Scher said, “It’s an absolute joke.”

Scher noted that Melania’s fashion choices have made headlines, especially during her overseas trips with President Trump:

  • “Melania Trump’s Fashion Gets Rave Reviews During Trip Overseas,” Harper’s Bazaar
  • “Melania Trump is the epitome of style (and independence) during this trip abroad,” Philadelphia Enquirer
  • “First lady Melania Trump wears fashion-forward style abroad,” NBC’s Today Show
  • “Melania and Ivanka Stun on Presidential Trip to Poland,” AOL
  • “Melania Trump continues fashion tour de force at Eiffel Tower dinner,” USA Today

In his op-ed, Scher stated, “I understand that Vanity Fair prefers to spotlight failures of President Donald Trump, but the failure to recognize the First Lady’s fashion prowess in 2017 is an offense from which the magazine may never recover.”

The media recently mocked the First Lady because she wore black stilettos upon leaving the White House to go visit Texas after Hurricane Harvey, slamming her for wearing high heels to a flood zone. However, upon arriving in Texas, she got off the plane wearing tennis shoes, proving that she did, indeed, bring appropriate shoes for the situation.

Who did make the Vanity Fair best-dressed list is worth noting. Under the couples category, Barack and Michelle Obama are highlighted as the Former President and First Lady of the United States, and recognized for their “Most notable looks of the year: A white Club Monaco top and custom BCBG olive-green pants paired with a gold Elizabeth and James Connolly cuff for her, and a blue shirt, navy trousers, and desert boots for him, worn in Siena, Italy.”

Eyebrows were raised over Michelle Obama’s revealing “winning outfit” that she wore in Italy. Below are photos of the outfits recognized by Vanity Fair that won the Obamas a place on the best-dressed list.

A few of Melania’s beautiful fashion choices are highlighted below from her Instagram posts:
