Vehicle Plows Through Parade Crowd In New Orleans

Mardi Gras in New Orleans turned to tragedy Saturday evening when a vehicle plowed through the crowd of Endymion parade spectators, injuring 21 people.

Reports indicate a suspect driving a pickup truck came speeding through an intersection, rammed into two other cars and finally plowed into a crowd of people watching the parade.

The truck stopped against a garbage bin, leaving several peopled pinned beneath the truck, and between the truck and the garbage bin.

At least 12 of the injured were reported to be seriously hurt, but as yet, no deaths are reported.  One of the injured was a police officer.   The victims were taken to seven different hospitals.

News sources say the suspect appeared to be highly intoxicated, and one witness said they heard him cursing through the truck’s open window.  He was reportedly taken away in handcuffs.
