BEVERLY GLEN, Calif. (FOX 11) – A brush fire broke out and threatened homes this afternoon in the Beverly Crest area, prompting evacuations and a furious response by firefighters.

Evacuations are being ordered along San Ysidro Drive between Milboro Place and Beeson Drive due to that brush fire burning in the Beverly Crest/Benedict Canyon area. Beeson and Milboro are also being evacuated west of San Ysidro Drive. Northern boundary of San Circle down San Ysidro Dr to southern boundary of Peavine Dr.

The evacuation center for people affected by the Portola Fire burning in the Beverly Crest area has been moved to the Westwood Recreation Center, 1350 S. Sepulveda Blvd., fire officials say.
