Police in Ohio are searching for a man who walked into a family’s home and opened fire early this morning, killing a four-year-old boy and wounding four adults.
The mass shooting took place at around 2am on Monday inside a two-story home in the 100 block of Perry Street in Struthers on the Ohio-Pennsylvania border.
The article goes on to state the following:
Struthers Police Chief Tim Roddy said during a press briefing this afternoon that the gunman made his way inside the home and began yelling at the people inside.
The gunman then opened fire on the people in the home. The report states that 4-year-old Rowan Sweeney was shot and died in the arms of his mother, 22-year-old Alexis Scheider, who was shot in the legs.
Another woman in the home, Cassandra Marisola, 20, was also shot in the legs.
Two men in the home, Yarnell Green Jr, 30, and 20-year-old Andre Stephon McCoy Jr, are both hospitalized in critical condition, as one was shot in the head and the other shot in the back.
The victims said they did not know the gunman, who fled on foot after the shooting. He was described as a thin, light-skinned black man.
The child’s father, David Sweeney, was not at the home and is uninjured.
Chief Roddy said police had responded to a drug overdose call at the same home just last week, which involved one of the people who was shot.
